About the fishing cabin

The cabins are located in Mjøsli with a great view of the lake Mjøsa, Norway's biggest lake. You can enjoy the view of the lake and the surrounding from the veranda or just walk there on an evening stroll. It is all just a stone's throw away.

It is the perfect getaway for families, fishing addicts and nature lovers since it is a very authentic en quiet place in the middle of nature. Not only is your stay fully catered in terms of breakfast, lunch and dinner, you can also make use of the hot tub or sauna. As if that is not enough you can book a personal fishing guide that takes you fishing every day!

You can also make use of the fully equipped kitchen, living room with everything you may expect or just simply relax on the terrace.

About the fishing

Lake Mjøsa is well known for the big (winter) pikes roaming the water. There are more than 40 rivers and brooks surrounding the lake and all species of fish are using the lake as their main feeding ground to grow big, very big!

The lake is a host to about 20 species of fish, large brown trout and pike are among the most famous to fish for. The large population of brown trout combined with the large volume of water and great depths make this lake very suitable for hosting monster pikes. Catch reports of pikes bigger than 1 meter are very frequent!

Trolling with large swimbaits is recommended, but you do not have to worry about bringing your gear (you can of course) because our very experienced guide has got that covered.

If you want to choose for a fully catered 4 day fishing trip (available as extra option) this is what you can expect:

Day 1: Arrival at the guesthouse and welcome dinner

You are welcomed by our host and local fishing guide and very talented fisher Raymond who will give you a lecture about (ice)fishing.

You meet him at Gardemoen Airport for the 30 minutes transfer to Mjøsli. If you travel by car you can drive directly to the guesthouse and meet us there.

Have a bath in the outdoor hot tub or soak up in the wood-heated sauna.

Welcome dinner in the lodge. Enjoy the fresh air and views of the lake.

Day 2: Fishing

Go for a morning walk if you like and then enjoy a late breakfast at the veranda.

We will try to catch pikes in a local lake. There is a good chance to catch pikes weighing more than 10 kg here.

We return to the guesthouse for dinner.

Day 3: Fishing

After breakfast, our guide will take you to his secret place for big pike.

We return to the guesthouse late at night for dinner.

Day 4: Departure

Wake up and have a relaxed morning and late breakfast at Mjøsli Lodge.

When you are ready to leave we take you back to Gardermoen Airport.

About the boat(s)

Your personal fishing guide will pick you up and take you to the best spots with his boat. The boat comes fully equipped with everything you can expect from a fishing boat. Expect GPS, rods, lures, rod holders etc.

    Perfect!

We had friends visiting from abroad and wanted to give them a glimpse of the "hytte" feeling, without having to give up on too many comforts. Mjøsli lodge is an amazing cabin and perfect for this purpose. You can both relax, enjoy the company of friends, and explore the beautiful Norwegian outdoors (preferably with a car to let you explore further out). This is a very elegant and stylish cabin, and we were slightly nervous about having children (3 under 5) and dogs running loose inside, but the host was reassuring and the stay went very well. We highly recommend them.

    Stunning!

Hello wonderful people, 1st of all, our host, she’s an amazing person, very thoughtful, great communication and prompt responses to every inquiry. The house is too good to be true, hiking trails, lakes, and a stunning view. Very secure compound with a play ground within a walking distance. Fully equipped with everything you could imagine. This years summer was very hot, but thank god for the air conditioning, a plus for this house. Oslo is just ah hour away, Lillehammer and other exciting cities are not that far. Very private and secluded area where you can just relax and enjoy your holiday. Would I come here again, definitely, but bare in mind that it’s very secluded, which for us was a bonus. I highly recommend staying here if you wanna be away from the city, but the city is just an hour away if you wanna do some shopping or have some city vibes. Thank you so much for your hospitality. Such a memorable stay in Norway.
